Located next to the cemetery.
This furnace, opened in 2003, serves the town of Reus and neighbouring localities.
Attended Cremation
Gesfursa offers families the chance to be present, if they wish, at the cremation of coffins in the furnace, at no extra cost. For this reason there is a waiting room with a garden for them to use while the preparations for the cremation take place. The furnace room has a glass wall to allow family members to watch the coffin being put into the furnace in total safety.
Room for Ceremonies
The crematorium facilities include a room for ceremonies which can be used both for families choosing incineration and for those opting to use the cemetery next to the crematorium.
This room can be used for services for any religious confession and for civil ceremonies. Gesfursa has a civil ceremony service for families who require it.
Destination of the Ashes
Users can decide what to do with the ashes, choosing one of the following options:
- A family niche. People who already have a niche in the cemetery can place the ashes in there.
- A columbarium. Type of tomb designed especially to house the urn with the ashes.
- Family custody: the family can take the urn home with them.
- Tomb for ashes: this is the space designed by Gesfursa for everybody making use of its cremation service, free of charge. Family members may place the urn in this tomb, from which it cannot be recovered.
